Sava,the artisian

In the spring of 1989, Sava, the artisan, gilded the biggest cross in the world – the central crossof the Temple of St Sava in Belgrade. This cross is 12m high, 5m wide, weighing 4 tonnes and having the balls 2m diametrically wide.It was made of steel and chromium of the highest quality and gilded with the gold leaves 24 carats worth. The central cross was consecrated by Patriarch German, and it was lifted to the height of 70m along with the dome of the Temple, weighing over 4000 tonnes, shortly before St Vitus’ Day the same year.
